2025 ARRL Field Day was a success! We had lots of good company, great operators, and even had some visitors interested in amateur radio stop by. We had very few issues this year with equipment.
Thank you to everyone that took part in field day. Whether it was help setting up, taking down, operating, or just visiting. Field day would not be possible without everyone’s involvement.

Once we had the stations and antenna all set up we discovered 40 meters was unusable with interference that repeated throughout the entire band. After doing a basic site survey with a tiny SA (spectrum analyzer), it appeared that as you moved away from the com center, the noise got weaker. With this observation we decided to temporarily move one end of the off center fed dipole antenna that was mounted very close to the building. We are unable to unplug any items in the building as it was likely a power supply on county equipment. This move resolved the noise issue, so we decided to take down the antenna and mast, then relocate it further from the building. The club computers performed flawlessly this year. The only computer related issue we had was rf getting into a winkeyer once. This was the first year the winkeyer was at field day so it did not have any ferrites on the usb cable yet.

Once again, this year we beat last years results of sections worked. Pictured to the left, all colored areas are sections we worked one or more stations in. There were only two US call area sections we were unable to work; Virgin Islands and Pacific. New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Territories were the Canadian sections we did not make contact with.

Our most productive mode this year was CW. We had two fantastic CW operators, W8AV and KT8Z. Digital (FT8) was a popular mode for operators this year. Not only did this keep the overall room noise down, but they are also worth 2 points per contact. FT8 contacts are not as quick as some may believe. They are no match for the speed of CW.

Final Score
There were several duplicate contacts that had to be removed from the logs before submitting. This was caused by how WSJT-X and the logging software interface with each other.
